The body of the school teacher, identified as Mukesh Yadav, and his motorcycle were found beside NH-22 in Ghaghri area under the jurisdiction of Vasisthnagar Jori police station this morning, a police officer said, adding that, however, no visible signs of accident were found on the body or the vehicle.
Irate locals blocked the highway and demanded adequate compensation for the next of kin and arrest of the “murderer”, he said.
“Prima facie, it doesn’t appear to be a case of mere accident. The circumstances are suspicious. The case is being investigated from all angles. A dog squad has also been deployed,” Chatra DSP (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar Singh told reporters.
Yadav was posted as vocational trade in-charge at a high school.
“The deceased’s mobile phone is being examined to trace his movements. A thorough investigation of the crime scene is underway, and locals are also being questioned,” he added.
The circumstances surrounding the teacher’s death remain unclear and the actual cause of death can only be ascertained after the receipt of post-mortem report and a thorough investigation, another senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, representatives of the administration reached the road blockade spot to pacify the irate villagers. PTI SAN ACD
