Medininagar (Jharkhand), Jul 26 (PTI) An elderly man cleaning his hunting gun accidentally triggered it, which claimed his life in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, a police officer said on Sunday.
The incident occurred in Nawadih Hutaar village on Saturday night.
The loaded country-made gun went off when Shyam Lal Bhuiyan (75) was cleaning it in his home on Saturday night, and the bullet pierced his chest, Superintendent of Police Kapil Chaudhary said.
His son told police that the gun, rarely used for hunting, was with the family for a long time and he was not sure where his father had procured it from.
Officer-in-Charge of Ramgarh police station Om Prakash Shah said the victim was a carpenter.
