Patna, Oct 6 (PTI) Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday hailed Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan, for making efforts to resolve an ongoing feud between party MLA Anant Singh and MLC Neeraj Kumar ahead of the October 23 legislative council polls, and claimed that the party was working transparently to fix the dispute.
The union minister had been authorised to defuse the crisis arising out of the Mokama MLA’s open support for the Jan Suraaj Party candidate contesting against Neeraj.
During a press conference at JD(U) headquarters in Patna, Choudhary exuded confidence that the dispute between the two leaders would be resolved.
“The party had authorised Lalan Babu to resolve the matter, and he has made an effort to do the same. I thank him on behalf of the party for his efforts. He has assured the party leadership that the dispute is in the direction of being resolved,” Choudhary told reporters.
Lalan had on Monday said Anant has “agreed not to give statements in public” against Neeraj, who is contesting the upcoming Bihar legislative council elections.
Neeraj, who is seeking re-election from Patna Graduates’ seat for a fourth consecutive term, filed his nomination papers in the presence of several JD(U) leaders and workers on Monday.
Anant had, last week, accompanied Anuj Singh, the Jan Suraaj Party candidate from the seat, during the filing of his nomination papers.
Responding to Lalan’s remark about the state leadership’s “failure to address Anant Singh’s grievances” during the 2025 assembly elections, Choudhary said, “We are working transparently. Whatever Lalan Singh came across during his intervention, he conveyed to us. These have been taken note of. The party will look into all those aspects.”
According to Lalan, the Mokama MLA alleged that Neeraj Kumar had “worked against him during last year’s assembly election”. PTI SUK BDC
