Nawada, Oct 7 (PTI) Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Wednesday claimed that his party would win both the Patna Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies in the upcoming Bihar legislative council elections.

Campaigning in Nawada for party candidates Anuj Singh, contesting from the Patna Graduates’ constituency, and Divya Jyoti from the Patna Teachers’ constituency, Kishor said a victory would send a message to elected representatives across Bihar that voters would hold them accountable for their performance.

“The JSP will win both seats of Patna. I urge voters to strengthen the winds of change in the state. The council polls have the state’s most educated voters, and I am sure that they would not sell their votes for Rs 10,000,” he said.

Kishor appealed to voters to vote for change, better pay and dignity for teachers, and employment opportunities for graduates.

“It is their responsibility to strengthen the change that began in Bankipur. Vote to remove Samrat Choudhary from Bihar,” said the Bankipur MLA.

The party is contesting all eight seats in the council polls.

Polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on October 23, with counting scheduled for October 27.

Graduates who have obtained a recognised university degree at least three years before the qualifying date and are ordinarily resident in the respective constituency are eligible to vote, subject to registration on the electoral roll.

Teachers with at least three years of experience in recognised educational institutions not lower than secondary schools are eligible to vote in the Teachers’ constituencies, subject to separate registration on the electoral roll. PTI PKD SOM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
