Jammu, Oct 23 (PTI) Jammu Railway Division has re-engaged 25 retired employees in its commercial and operating departments to improve passenger services, train operations and station management, officials said on Friday.

The initiative, undertaken under the guidance of divisional railway manager Vivek Kumar, has seen 19 retired personnel join the commercial department and six the operating department, marking the first such large-scale re-engagement since the formation of Jammu division in 2025, they said.

The re-engaged personnel are expected to strengthen ticketing, reservation services, passenger grievance redressal, and help manage the rush during the upcoming festive season.

Officials said their experience will also support safe, punctual train operations, shunting, and station management.

A three-member committee comprising senior divisional commercial manager Uchit Singhal, senior divisional operations manager Aarish Bansal and senior personnel officer Seema V Verma completed the selection process.

The division said the experienced personnel would also help mentor younger railway employees and contribute towards improving operational efficiency and passenger services. PTI AB ASD

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
