Important matters heard by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, March 19: * SC directed yoga guru Ramdev and Managing Director of Patanjali Ayurved Acharya Balkrishna to appear before it after taking exception to the company’s failure to respond to notice issued in the contempt proceedings relating to advertisements of the firm’s products and their medicinal efficacy.

* SC asked the Centre to respond within three weeks to applications seeking a stay on implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024 till the apex court disposes of the pleas challenging the constitutional validity of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
