New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), along with civil and military aviation authorities, handled a total of 257 arrivals and departures involving 1,189 VIPs and VVIPs at the IGI Airport and the Palam IAF Station for the recently concluded BRICS Summit in Delhi, officials said on Wednesday.
They said a dedicated BRICS Control Room was operationalised for the round-the-clock monitoring and coordination of flight movements and exchange of information among CISF formations and other stakeholders for the summit.
India hosted the BRICS Summit between September 12-13.
“A total of 257 arrival and departure movements involving 1,189 VVIP and VIP movements were handled by the CISF and airport authorities through Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and Air Force Station Palam between September 3-15,” an official told PTI.
According to officials, a total of 16 Heads of State/Heads of Government and delegations from 26 participating countries, together with hundreds of other dignitaries and foreign delegates, participated in the Summit.
In addition to the main summit-related delegations, judicial delegations representing 17 countries, comprising chief justices, presidents/chairpersons of apex courts and other senior judicial leaders, were also facilitated by the CISF and other agencies during the same period, they said.
Three CISF teams maintained continuous coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and protocol officials, Delhi Police, intelligence and security agencies, airport authorities, IAF station Palam authorities and other stakeholders associated with the movement of international delegations, the officials added.
