Shimla, Sep 8 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is planning to lease its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDEO) in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for teaching, training and research activities, officials said on Tuesday.
An HPU delegation and DRDO officials held a meeting here to discuss the proposed lease and explore avenues for greater cooperation between the two institutions.
The meeting was chaired by HPU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mahavir Singh.
The two institutions reached an understanding on strengthening academic cooperation, undertaking joint research initiatives, building institutional capacity and ensuring optimum utilisation of available resources, officials said.
The possibility of developing HPU’s Learning Centre building in Noida into a major academic and research hub was also discussed, Singh said.
He said the proposed collaboration would open new avenues for the university to work with a national-level defence research organisation and further strengthen HPU’s presence at the national level. PTI COR MDO MDO
