Shimla, May 5 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Police has expanded its citizen-friendly “Watch & Patrol” initiative from Shimla’s Mall Road to other major tourist destinations, including those in Manali, Solan and Mcleodganj, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Under the initiative, police personnel in ceremonial uniform are deployed at important public places to assist tourists, visitors and senior citizens and respond promptly to emergencies.

Initially launched on Mall Road, the Watch & Patrol initiative has emerged as an effective model for modern policing focused on service, accessibility and public trust, the spokesperson said in a statement.

The visible and approachable presence of the police personnel has significantly strengthened the sense of safety and confidence of tourists and residents, the statement said.

The initiative has received widespread appreciation for the disciplined, courteous and helpful conduct of police personnel. Encouraged by the public response, the state police have decided to expand the model to more tourist destinations, the spokesperson said.

Watch & Patrol reflects the state government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a safe, welcoming and tourist-friendly state while promoting responsive governance and service-oriented policing, he said. PTI BPL RUK RUK
