Shimla, April 27 (PTI) Congress in-charge for Himachal Pradesh, Rajni Patil, on Monday told 30 newly-appointed block presidents in four districts to reach out to people to know their grievances ahead of next month’s civic polls and the Assembly elections scheduled next year.
The meeting convened by state Congress chief Vinay Kumar also discussed issues like financial crunch, poll guarantees and stopping of the revenue deficit grant (RGD), which further compounded the financial problems of the state, party sources said.
Talking to mediapersons, Patil said the Congress government in Himachal is trying to tide over the crises by implementing its poll guarantees.
“People have the right to question the government, and the government must reply at the right time. However, being a landlocked state, Himachal has limited scope for resource mobilisation.
Asked about selecting candidates for the elections to four municipal corporations, Patil said a committee has been formed, and a final decision would be taken after consulting the chief minister, deputy chief minister and state unit president. PTI BPL ARI ARI
