Hot weather conditions in Punjab and Haryana; 44.2 deg C in Rohtak, Bathinda sizzles at 43 deg C

Chandigarh, Apr 27 (PTI) Haryana and Punjab reeled under hot weather conditions on Monday, with Rohtak recording at a maximum temperatures of 44.2 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Bathinda was the hottest place in the state with 43 degrees Celsius, according to the Met here.

Amritsar recorded a high of 40 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana recorded 41 degrees while Patiala’s maximum settled at 42.1 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh, the common capital of Haryana and Punjab, also braved the heat as the maximum temperature settled at 40.2 degrees Celsius.

In Haryana, the mercury settled at 44.4 degrees Celsius in Faridabad’s Bopani.

Among other places in Haryana, Rohtak recorded a high of 44.2 degrees Celsius, Hisar 43.4 degrees, Karnal 42.4 degrees, Ambala 41 degrees, while Gurugram’s maximum settled at 43 degrees Celsius.

According to the Met here, “A Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Himalayan region. Under its influence, increase in rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds is likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh”.

As per the Met forecast for Punjab, light rain is likely at isolated places during this week with increased in intensity and distribution on April 29.
