New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday called Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and expressed concern over the gathering of migrant workers in Bandra.

The Home Minister stressed that such events weaken India’s fight against coronavirus and administration needs to stay vigilant to avoid such incidents. He also offered his full support to Maharashtra government.

A large group of migrant workers gathered in Bandra demanding permission to return to their native states after the nationwide lockdown was extended till May 3. They were later dispersed.

“The migrant labourers had gathered in Bandra demanding permission to return to their native states. However, they were later dispersed after police and local leaders intervened and asked them to vacate,” said a police official.

The 21-day nationwide lockdown, which was to end on Tuesday, has been extended till May 3. The lockdown has been enforced to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

  1. USA, EUROPEAN UNION, BRITAIN, JAPAN & OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRIES ARE FACING BIGGEST CRISIS DUE TO OVER DEPENDENCE ON CHINA FOR SUB-STANDARD GOODS BY PUTTING ALL EGGS IN ONE BASKET. CHINA PLAYED DIREST GAME OF PRESENT HISTORY BY DEVELOPING CORONAVIRUS & SPREADING IT IN MOST SYSTEMATIC MANNER. THIS RESULTED IN COMPLETE HALT OF WORLD ECONOMY WITH OBJECTIVE TO CAPTURE WORLD MARKET.TODAY MOST OF THE COUNTRIES ARE FACING COMPLETE LOCKDOWN HAVING COLOSSAL LOSS OF THEIR ECONOMY WHICH IS BEYOND REPAIR. BUT THIS MISADVENTURE OF CHINA WILL BE SUICIDAL BECAUSE ALL INDUSTRILISED COUNTRIES WILL SHIFT THEIR COMPANIES FROM CHINA TO OTHER SAFE DESTINATIONS. THIS WILL BE DISASTROUS STEP FOR CHINA. THERE IS FEAR ALL OVER THE WORLD OF CHINESE VIRUS AND NONE OF CITIZENS OF ANY COUNTRY IS READY TO USE CHINESE PRODUCTS DUE TO PRESENT CRISIS IN THE WORLD. THE OVERALL SITUATION IS MOST CRITICAL FOR FUTURE OF CHINA WHICH CAN ONLY BE VISUALIZED IN COURSE OF TIME.

  2. They, the migrants, have been living SOMEWHERE during last many months. Instead of promising money to them, central/state governments should give them two things:
    1) rent money should be paid directly to the landlord, so he does not pester them to leave. It will not be fair to ask the landlord to be “patient” ; for all you know, the rent may be his only source of income! So, instead of asking him for a “sacrifice for the nation”, the governments should just pay him up so he leaves his migrant tenants in peace
    2) instead of giving money to the migrants who are jobless now, the governments should provide them A-Z items for cooking and filling their stomachs – – grains, Dal, oil, masalas, vegetables on alternate days, salt, sugar, tea leaves, soap, detergents. This list looks long, but I can tell you from personal experience, that for a family or group of 4 people, the amount won’t be more than 2000-2500 rupees. It will be much less if we consider ration shop rates. So, as a ballpark figure, it will amount to 500 rupees per person, ONLY! Those poor guys are hungry, they are separated from their dear ones, and then you send police to lathi-charge them? What sort of leadership qualities you are demonstrating?

  3. It has happened earlier in Surat and Delhi as well. This is desperation bursting through. Concrete assistance will have to be rendered to the poor.
