Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (PTI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Thursday condoled the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, and said he left an indelible mark on generations of audiences.

Patekar, known for his versatility and powerful screen presence across films such as ‘Salaam Bombay!’, ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Welcome’, passed away at his Goa residence in the early hours of Thursday. He was 76.

The actor is suspected to have suffered a heart attack, according to sources.

In a post on X, Majhi said Patekar’s death was a great loss to Indian cinema.

“Through his exceptional talent, powerful performances and enduring contribution to the art, he left an indelible mark on generations of audiences,” the CM said.

“May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath grant eternal peace to the departed soul and provide strength and solace to his family, friends and countless admirers in this hour of grief. Om Shanti,” he said.

Patnaik said he was deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Patekar.

“His distinctive dialogue delivery and ability to essay complex characters with ease earned him a special place in Indian cinema. My condolences to the bereaved family members, friends and fans. Om Shanti,” the BJD chief said.
