Chandigarh, Jul 9 (PTI) Haryana has planned major pollution-control projects, including sewage treatment plants with a capacity of 423.5 million litres per day (MLD), as part of its Yamuna rejuvenation programme, officials said on Thursday.
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi reviewed the projects and directed departments to expedite execution and remove bottlenecks.
Officials said the state plans 10 sewage treatment plants costing Rs 828.88 crore and nine common effluent treatment plants (CETP) with a combined capacity of 156.5 MLD.
Two CETPs with a capacity of 30 MLD are already under construction.
Two sewage treatment plants — at Matlauda in Panipat and Bajghera in Gurugram — are nearing completion and are expected to be commissioned by July-end and August-end, respectively.
The government is also planning nine biogas plants with a total processing capacity of 1,455 tonnes per day across several districts to convert organic waste into clean energy.
Rastogi stressed the need for close coordination among departments to improve the ecological health of the Yamuna. PTI VSD APL APL
