Meerut (UP), Oct 30 (PTI) Ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, a non-political outfit announced on Friday in Meerut that it will launch a public awareness campaign to mobilise support for the creation of a separate ‘Harit Pradesh’ state.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Harit Pradesh Nirman Samiti (non-political) in Bani Sarai locality of Meerut.

The meeting was chaired by former Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Chaudhary Yashpal Singh and led by the outfit’s president Manish Pratap Singh.

According to a press release issued by the outfit, the meeting discussed in detail the need for a separate state to ensure the development of western Uttar Pradesh.

“The region, despite making significant contributions to the economy, industry and agriculture, continued to face basic infrastructure and development-related problems,” it said.

“The creation of a separate state could help improve administrative facilities, accelerate development works and ensure effective resolution of people’s problems in the region,” it added.

The outfit said it will organise meetings in Meerut, Baghpat, Bijnor, Bulandshahr and other districts of western Uttar Pradesh “to make people aware of the need for a separate Harit Pradesh and its potential benefits”.

As part of the campaign, the outfit will reach out to traders, advocates, doctors, journalists, entrepreneurs, farmers and other sections of society to build public support for the demand, according to the statement.

The outfit said, “The demand for a separate Harit Pradesh is not merely a political issue but also linked to the region’s economic development, employment generation, industrial expansion and improved healthcare and education facilities.” PTI COR KIS
