Chandigarh, Aug 4 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the state government will organise this year’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign on an unprecedented scale from August 9 to 17, with programmes across every village, town and household to mark Independence Day.
Addressing a press conference here, Saini said the campaign would go beyond hoisting the national flag and evolve into a mass movement to promote patriotism, national unity, social harmony and respect for the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle.
Giving details of programmes being organised under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, ‘Vande Mataram’, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day and the 650th ‘Prakash Parv’ of Guru Ravidas, Saini said the initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 has now become a nationwide people’s movement.
He said this year’s campaign has been dedicated to 150 years of the composition of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, which inspired millions during the freedom struggle and continues to motivate younger generations.
Saini said all government departments, educational institutions, universities, industries, voluntary organisations, youth clubs, sports associations and social organisations would participate in the campaign.
Appealing to people to join the initiative, he urged farmers to hoist the Tricolour at their farms and homes, traders at their establishments, employees in their offices and every family at their residences.
He said schools and colleges would organise exhibitions on the history of the national flag and ‘Vande Mataram’, along with essay writing, painting, speech and quiz competitions, patriotic song contests and programmes on the lives of local freedom fighters.
Tiranga yatras, motorcycle rallies, bicycle rallies and e-bike rallies would also be organised across the state, passing through martyrs’ memorials, freedom fighters’ memorials and other historically significant sites, he said.
A state-level ‘Tiranga Concert’ based on the ‘Vande Mataram’ theme will be held at Mahendragarh on August 9, featuring patriotic performances and a collective rendition of the national song, Saini said.
He said ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ would be observed across Haryana on August 14, with a state-level programme in Gurugram and district-level events across the state. Families affected by Partition would be invited, while exhibitions, interactive sessions and candlelight marches would be organised in memory of those who lost their lives or were displaced.
Saini also said the state government has launched the ‘Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ to commemorate the 650th ‘Prakash Parv’ of Guru Ravidas, which will continue till February 20, 2027.
He said the campaign aims to spread Guru Ravidas’ message of equality, service, devotion, social justice and harmony across the state.
The chief minister said the sacred Kalash Yatra, which began from Guru Ravidas’ birthplace in Varanasi, has already reached Haryana and would travel across the state before the ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Yatra’ begins on October 5 from Dera Sach Khand Ballan in Jalandhar and culminates in Varanasi on November 5.
