Shimla, Oct 7 (PTI) Hailstorm lashed Shimla on Wednesday, while light to heavy rains were witnessed in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, officials said.

The Shimla met office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 50 kmph in isolated places in the state for Thursday and Friday.

Palampur received 82.7 mm of rain in the past 24 hours since Tuesday evening, followed by Sarahan 28.7 mm, Kothi 19 mm, Bhattiyat 18.3 mm, Jot 17.8 mm, Guler 16.7 mm, Shimla 12 mm and Manali 11 mm.

Thunderstorms and lightning were witnessed in Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Shimla, Jubberhatti, Kangra, Jot and Murari Devi while hailstorm lashed Palampur, Shimla and Jot.

Kukumseri was coldest at night, recording a low of 2.9 degrees Celsius, while Una was hottest during the day with a high of 32.2 degrees Celsius.

The officials said that commuters travelling on the Shoghi-Dhalli bypass had a narrow escape as a landslide occurred near Dhalli.

Two vehicles were crossing the stretch when the slide took place, they said.

A video of the landslide has also gone viral on the internet, in which vehicles are seen parked on the roadside where the incident took place. However, police told PTI that there has been no injury or damage to vehicles.
