Gurugram, Jul 8 (PTI) Gurugram Traffic Police on Wednesday deployed additional personnel and equipments on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48) following heavy rain that caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of the city, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Prateek Gahlot said 260 additional police personnel have been deployed to strengthen traffic management in view of increased traffic volume, the monsoon season and night-time movement.
Gurugram has received over 115 mm of rainfall in the last 33 hours, including 83 mm on Tuesday and 32 mm on Wednesday, leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion in the city.
The additional deployment includes five cranes, two Hydra machines, an ambulance, 17 motorcycle patrol units and six police vehicles, he said.
The teams will be stationed at vulnerable and high-traffic locations, particularly during rain and at night, to respond quickly to emergencies and clear traffic bottlenecks, Gahlot said.
He said the traffic police will maintain enhanced surveillance at major entry and exit points on NH-48. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers will not be allowed to enter the highway from any entry point, and action will be taken against violators under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
“The Gurugram Traffic Police is continuously monitoring the traffic situation. Police teams deployed in the field and at the control room are working in coordination to immediately clear any traffic congestion or obstruction,” Gahlot said. APL APL
