Gurugram, Oct 3 (PTI) Gurugram police have arrested three sharpshooters who allegedly planned to commit an incident in Delhi to create an atmosphere of fear, recovering two foreign-made pistols and five live cartridges from them, police said.

During the police action, one of the accused jumped from the flyover while attempting to evade the police, sustaining a fracture in his leg. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the accused were planning to commit an incident in Delhi with the intention of creating an atmosphere of fear, and were conducting reconnaissance for illegal extortion while remaining in contact with their other associates.

According to the police, the Farrukhnagar Crime Branch team arrested Abhay alias Maulad, 20, and Sagar, both residents of Gurugram, and Jatin alias Jony, 29, a resident of Sonipat. The police arrested Abhay near Garhi Flyover, New Pataudi Gurugram Road and Jatin and Sagar from Farrukhnagar.

The police recovered two foreign-made pistols — PX and China-made — from the accused.

During the police action, Sagar jumped from the flyover while attempting to evade the police, sustaining a fracture in his leg.

During the interrogation, it came to light that Jatin, after receiving illegal weapons from his other associates, provided them to Abhay. Other aspects related to the supply of illegal weapons in the case are also being investigated, they added.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused were in contact with their other associates and, at their direction, were conducting reconnaissance for extortion, a senior police officer said.

“We are conducting an in-depth investigation into the network of the accused, the source of the availability of the illegal weapons, and other persons who remained in contact with them. Investigation of the case is underway,” the police officer said. PTI COR SHS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
