New Delhi, Oct 27 (PTI) The Barapullah flyover witnessed heavy traffic congestion on Tuesday, with a dense stream of cars, buses and two-wheelers packed bumper-to-bumper along the elevated corridor, bringing vehicular movement to a crawl.
Vehicles stretched along the flyover towards Mayur Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan, with motorists struggling to make their way through the packed carriageway.
The congestion extended along the point connecting the elevated corridor to Sarai Kale Khan, a key interchange linking south and east Delhi with the Ring Road and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
The stretch has faced recurring traffic bottlenecks following the opening of Barapullah Phase III, intended to improve connectivity between Mayur Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan. Traffic from the new corridor converges with vehicles approaching from the Sundial Park loop and the Ashram-DND side, while the existing stretch narrows from three lanes to two.
Traffic disruptions were also reported on Ashoka Road, which was shut, while commuters flagged snarls near the Bhera Enclave roundabout and the Radisson hotel in Paschim Vihar.
Commuters also flagged heavy congestion on the 40-foot road connecting Vijay Vihar and Budh Vihar, including Shamshan Ghat Road and Lal Flat Road.
On the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, commuters attributed recurring jams to MCD toll tax collection.
Separately, a commuter reported an ambulance stuck between Keshav Puram Metro station and the Inderlok red light, with the Delhi Traffic Police saying the concerned traffic inspector was being alerted to facilitate its movement. PTI MSJ
