New Delhi: The government will be issuing a special commemorative Rs 100 coin to mark the completion of 100 episodes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio show Mann ki Baat on 30 April. The show began on 3 October, 2014.
According to a notification by the Department of Economic Affairs issued on 20 April, “The coin of One Hundred Rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of ‘100th Episode of Mann Ki Baat’.”
The face of the coin will bear the symbol of the lion capital of the Ashoka Pillar in the centre, with the words ‘satyameva jayate’ inscribed below it in the Devanagari script. This will further be flanked on the left periphery with the word ‘Bharat’ in Devanagari script, and the word ‘India’ in English, on the right.
The coin face will also have the rupee symbol and the word ‘100’ below the lion capital.
The reverse face of the coin will bear the logo for the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat, which consists of an image of a microphone “with sound waves and year ‘2023’ written on the image of the microphone”. The words ‘Mann Ki Baat 100‘ will be written in Devanagari script and in English above and below this image, respectively.
“Prime Minister’s unique and direct communication with the citizens through the medium of radio, Mann Ki Baat, has completed 98 episodes till now,” the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said in a release on 14 March, announcing the upcoming century mark.
“It has been the genesis, medium and amplifier of social changes like Swachh Bharat, ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, water conservation, vocal for local, etc,” the release added. “The program has shown tremendous impact on industries like khadi, Indian toy industry, startups in health, AYUSH, space etc.”
Further, the government release added that the show used its “innovative and unique interactive style of presentation” and “carved out a niche for itself as a unique paradigm of communication”.
