Jaipur, Oct 27 (PTI) Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday urged the state government to conduct a fresh survey of drought-affected areas, claiming that several regions facing severe crop losses and water shortages had been excluded from the drought-hit list.
In a post on X, Gehlot said 80 tehsils across 14 of Rajasthan’s 41 districts had been declared severely or moderately drought-affected, leaving out several areas where farmers were facing distress.
He cited Shergarh tehsil in Banswara and Bhopalgarh tehsil in Jodhpur, where farmers had raised concerns over crop damage, drying wells and financial hardship.
Gehlot demanded a fresh, impartial survey and crop-loss assessment based on rainfall deficiency, agricultural losses and ground conditions.
He said areas found to be drought-affected should be immediately included in the list to ensure farmers receive relief in the form of fodder, drinking water, employment opportunities and compensation. PTI AG APL
