Thane, May 5 (PTI) Four people were killed after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a state transport bus in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Tuesday, officials said.
The crash occurred around 11.30 am at Tokawde in Murbad taluka on the Murbad-Ahilyanagar Road, said Sagar Palsule, Divisional Commissioner of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Thane division.
“The SUV was heading towards Kalyan when it collided with an MSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Murbad) Anil Lad informed that four people died in the accident though they were yet to be identified.
The bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination, said the police officer.
While the front portion of the bus was smashed, the car itself was a total wreck with the occupants thrown out on the streets due to the impact of the collision. Pictures of the ghastly accident have gone viral on social media. PTI COR ARU RSY
