Latur, Oct 7 (PTI) A five-year-old boy drowned after falling into an open water tank while playing near his house in Latur, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased, Shantanu Varwate, had come to his maternal grandparents’ home with his mother in Kashilingeswar Nagar. His parents live in Pune.

“He was playing marbles with other children near the house on Tuesday when he accidentally fell into the water tank in the adjoining premises,” police inspector Arvind Pawar told PTI.

He was pulled out and taken for medical assistance, but was declared dead. PTI COR NSK
