Bulandshahr (UP), Jul 9 (PTI) A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Thursday sentenced five men to life imprisonment for the murder of three members of a family in 2010 and imposed a fine of Rs 1.04 lakh on each of them.
Additional Sessions Judge Mohammad Naseem convicted Bachchu Singh, Sonu, Jaipal, Satendra and Virendra after finding them guilty of the offence, prosecution counsel Vimal Kumar said.
According to the prosecution, complainant Sunita, a resident of Sikri village under Khurja Nagar police station, had lodged a handwritten complaint on October 11, 2010, alleging that she was returning home from her fields with her husband Rajkumar, brother-in-law Dushyant and mother-in-law Vidya Devi after harvesting paddy.
Around 5 pm, when they reached near a banyan tree in front of a house, the accused, who were allegedly lying in wait, opened fire, killing Rajkumar, Vidya Devi and Dushyant on the spot, Kumar said.
The prosecution alleged that the accused committed the murders over a dispute related to a piece of land they wanted to grab and which the victims’ family had opposed.
Sunita managed to escape and reached the police station to lodge the complaint, the prosecutor said.
The court, after hearing the case, awarded life imprisonment to all five convicts and imposed a fine of Rs 1.04 lakh each, he added. PTI COR KIS KSS KSS
