Mumbai, Sep 16 (PTI) The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday seized suspicious colostrum worth Rs 1.05 lakh at Charoti Toll Naka in Palghar district, an official release said.

A stock of 878 litres of colostrum valued at Rs 1,05,360 was being transported in a vehicle, it said.

The item was found to be stored and transported unlabelled, without proper temperature control, in unhygienic conditions, and was suspected to be substandard, unsafe and adulterated. Further legal action is being taken as per the rules, the release said.

On Tuesday, the FDA carried out an inspection at M/s. Kolhapur Milk and Bakers, Kolhapur where 59 kg of paneer valued at Rs 18,000 and 35 kg of shrikhand valued at Rs 5,950 were suspected to be substandard. Action was initiated against the establishment, it said.

On the same day, an inspection was carried out at Amar Sweet, Hadapsar, Pune. During the inspection, a stock of 74 kg of khawa or khoya was found stored for sale, valued at Rs 23,400. It was found stored unlabelled and in extremely unhygienic conditions, amounting to a violation of food safety, standards and hygiene regulations, the FDA said. PTI PR KRK
