Chandrapur, Oct 24 (PTI) A 60-year-old farmer was killed in a tiger attack in eastern Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Saturday evening, a forest official said.

The deceased was identified as Nana Kamadi, a resident of Palasgaon Jat in Sindewahi teshil.

A tiger attacked him while he was working in the fields, the official said.

Elsewhere in the district, a Forest Department team succeeded in capturing ‘T-122,’ a six-year-old tiger that had terrorised the population in Samda, Nilsani, Pedgaon, Sonapur, and Wagholi-Buti.

The tiger had killed three cattle grazers in recent weeks.

A 6-month-old female leopard was run over by a train on Ballarpur-Gondia line during the day, officials said. PTI COR KRK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
