New Delhi: Starting with the postponement of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in March, to engineering, medical and hospitality entrance exams, academic activity across the country have continued to remain disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government has announced revised schedules for the CBSE board exams, which are going to take place from 1-15 July, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering (18 July) and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into medical colleges (26 July), but the timetable for most others are yet to be decided.

There has also been opposition from parents as well as students against the holding of CBSE, NEET and JEE in July since the pandemic has shown no signs of abetting.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court earlier this month requesting the government to cancel the pending Class 12 exams. The court had Wednesday asked CBSE to consider the request.

A number of students have also written to HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on social media and filed petitions to cancel the exams. One such petition was started by a group called ‘Youth of India’ on change.org two weeks ago, asking the government to cancel exams in July. The petition had gathered more than two lakh signatures till Thursday (18 June).

One of the country’s biggest entrance exams after NEET and JEE is the National Eligibility Test (NET), which is usually conducted in the month of June. Thousands of aspirants taking interest in research and teaching sit for NET. There has, however, been no notification so far from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the nodal agency for entrance exams, on the NET exam dates this year.

Other important exams for which dates are yet to be announced are entrance exams for hotel management and agriculture programmes.

Here is a list of exams that were postponed because of Covid-19 and their new dates:

  1. Neet should be conducted on26 july,
    Postponement is not the solution.
We don’t know up to what date it will be cleaned.
    Whole year will go gradually.

  2. Please consider the situation of our country…. and further decide what to do….. but during this crisis…… staying at home is very important….. rather than studies our life is more precious…

  3. Postponement should not be done because how much time it will be reschedule.please with students it should be conducted with strict norms for Corona spread with mask sanitizer and hand wash at centre otherwise whole year will be vested.

  4. Please postpone the NEET exam……………..
Cases are increasing day by day..
    We are future doctors …..

  5. Pls extend the date for jee .it really seems stress now for studying!! Pls grant our request, various books are not available also….

  6. NEET and JEE should be cancelled….Students’ health are at a high stress….thereby even if it is postponed will lead to the aspirants to mental stress as well….

  7. Kindly postpone NEET & JEE EXAM because students at bottom layer suffers the most to handle the situation and get on to it so please postpone and this is world wide suggestion

  8. It’s a humble request to postpone exam not to cancel them ….you must think as a parent ..hmare parents hm log ko ghr s bahar bhi nii jaane de rhe h coz they r concerned about our health …so you should take decisions considering us your own child just like your loved ones …

  9. 3M kids give these exams even if 1% are affected means 30,000 are affected and it will not stop at that number only so it is my humble request to postpone all these exams until the situation gets in control.

  10. JEE must be cancelled…..
Its to irresponsible to conduct exam in such pandemic condition.
When no one should go out of there house they are telling lakhs of students to come and give exam.
    This is rediculous!!!!
