Kolkata, Oct 1 (PTI) Eastern Coalfields Limited has signed letters of intent (LoI) for three corporate social responsibility projects in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district, the company said on Thursday.

The three projects focus on health, early childhood care and water conservation, ECL said.

The LoIs were presented by ECL Director (HR) Gunjan Kumar Sinha at the CSR Roundtable 2026, convened by the state Finance Department in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Held under the theme “Building a Viksit Bengal for Collective Social Impact”, the event brought together senior officials of the state government, central and state PSUs, private sector organisations and CSR representatives to discuss development priorities and scope for collaborative interventions.

State Finance Department Minister-in-Charge Swapan Dasgupta and senior government officials attended the event.

The three projects include nutritional support for TB patients in Paschim Bardhaman under the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative, part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, renovation of Anganwadi Centres around ECL’s mining areas, and rejuvenation of a water body in one of the company’s operational areas.

The Ni-kshay Mitra initiative received a special mention at the Roundtable. State Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam appreciated ECL’s nutritional support to TB patients and its move to provide diagnostic equipment to strengthen preventive healthcare in the district.

The initiatives are aligned with local development priorities and the needs of communities in and around ECL’s operational areas, the company said.

Through its CSR interventions, ECL continues to work towards community welfare, sustainable development and creation of shared value across its command areas, it added. PTI BSM NN

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
