Chandigarh, Sep 20 (PTI) The Haryana AAP on Sunday alleged that drugs have reached every city, crime has increased and corruption has become rampant in the state under the BJP government.
Due to the BJP government’s lax attitude and administrative negligence, drugs are ruining the future of the youths of Haryana, AAP state unit chief Sushil Gupta told reporters here.
The BJP government shirks responsibilities by pointing fingers at neighbouring states, whereas the truth is that the illegal trade of ‘chitta’ (synthetic drugs), heroin, cannabis and banned pharmaceutical drugs is flourishing openly in every district of the state, the AAP leader claimed.
Many youths have also lost their lives allegedly due to drug overdose, but the government will not accept the truth, he said.
Recently, police raided a house in Gurugram’s Sohna in connection with illegal stocking and sale of medicines containing narcotic and psychotropic substances. The illegal trade of banned substances and tablets is concerning, Gupta said.
He questioned Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini over the situation in Haryana with regard to drugs, crime and gangsterism.
“What is the state of law and order in Haryana under BJP rule? Every day there are reports of murders in broad daylight, heinous crimes and extortion threats being issued by gangsters,” he said.
Unemployment has increased and as a result, youths take to crime and drugs. Corruption is rampant in various spheres, he charged.
“In Haryana, we cannot see the future of youth being destroyed by drugs,” Gupta said.
“We want to see employment and books in the hands of Haryana’s youth, not ‘chitta’ and drugs. If the Saini government does not take strict action against the nefarious nexus of the drug mafia and corrupt officials, the Aam Aadmi Party will take to the streets across every district, tehsil and village with a drug-free Haryana campaign,” he said.
Gupta also spoke about the “success” of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) campaign led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Punjab.
Through swift action, including demolishing the homes of drug smugglers and dismantling their networks, Punjab has tackled the problem head-on, the AAP leader said.
Asked about the BJP’s claim that the drug problem in Punjab has worsened under the AAP, Gupta said, “Rather, our government has taken steps to control the inherited problem.” “Nayab Singh Saini should tell what his was party doing when it ruled Punjab in alliance with SAD. Did the drug problem not increase during that period? The Haryana chief minister should answer that. Why did they remain silent during that period, or was it that they were busy enjoying the fruits of power?” he said. PTI SUN DIV DIV
