Bhopal, Oct 15 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Thursday said his ‘Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’ from Mahakal Dham in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Shri Ram Dham in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya will begin on October 20.

“The primary objective of the Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra is to spread the core ideals of Sanatan culture: truth, compassion, service, and harmony,” the former MP chief minister said at a press conference here.

The main objectives of the yatra also include preservation of cultural and religious heritage, strengthening social harmony, and raising awareness about transparency and accountability in matters related to religious institutions and traditions, Singh added.

The theme song, which was released at the press conference, highlights the core ideas of the yatra through lines like ‘What is our identity, truth, service, and respect?’ and ‘What is the value of culture, compassion, harmony, and knowledge?’, he said.

Singh urged the public to share the theme song as widely as possible and to join the yatra.

Asked if he would like to contest polls from Ayodhya, Singh said he was not interested, adding he will not leave MP.

The question was in the background of the verbal tussle between UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on contesting from Ayodhya. PTI MAS BNM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
