New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) Delhi’s maximum temperature settled at 35.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday, 1.5 degrees above normal, while the city’s air quality was in the moderate category.
The AQI stood at 162, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), and the air quality is likely to remain ‘moderate’ on October 9 and 10 as well. The outlook for the subsequent six days is ‘moderate’ to ‘poor’.
The Air Quality Early Warning System said the ventilation index was below 6,000 square metres per second, with the average wind speed below 10 kmph, conditions considered unfavourable for the dispersion of pollutants.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
At Safdarjung, the city’s base weather station, the maximum temperature was 35.7 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees above normal. Palam recorded a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees below normal, while Lodi Road recorded 35 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees above normal.
The Ridge recorded a maximum of 33.2 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees below normal, while Ayanagar recorded 35 degrees Celsius, 0.4 degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature at Safdarjung was 24.1 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees above normal. Palam recorded 21.5 degrees Celsius, which was normal, while Lodi Road recorded 23.4 degrees Celsius, 3.4 degrees above normal.
The Ridge recorded a minimum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees below normal, while Ayanagar recorded 23.6 degrees Celsius, 2.7 degrees above normal.
No rainfall was recorded at the five stations between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on Thursday.
