New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) The Election Commission has extended the half-day deployment of booth-level officers (BLOs) and supervisors engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi till November 25, following extension of the claims and objections period.

According to an order issued by the electoral registration officer (ERO), Rajinder Nagar assembly constituency, the arrangement made on September 15 will continue until November 25, allowing officials to carry out SIR-related duties without affecting their regular departmental work.

The Election Commission, through a notification on Thursday, extended the period for filing claims and objections in Delhi till November 25 and revised the SIR schedule.

As per the revised timeline, the period for filing claims and objections will continue till November 25, while the disposal of claims and objections will last until December 15. The final electoral roll will be published on December 22.

Under the extended arrangement, teachers deployed as BLOs and BLO supervisors will perform SIR duties during the half of the day when they are not required to attend to teaching shifts. Teachers working in morning-shift schools will undertake SIR duties in the second half of the day, while those in evening-shift schools will perform them in the first half.

Office staff, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, and other personnel deployed for the exercise will be permitted to perform SIR duties during the second half of the day or on alternate days, depending on administrative convenience and departmental requirements, it mentioned.

The order stated that BLOs and their supervisors would assist in serving hearing notices, collecting relevant documents and carrying out other field-level activities related to claims and objections.

The order also directed heads of departments, principals and other concerned officials to extend administrative cooperation to ensure the timely completion of the SIR exercise. PTI SHB ARB
