Giridih, Oct 12 (PTI) BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Monday claimed that the protests in New Delhi over alleged irregularities in the SIR exercise have now turned into an attack on the nation with “foreign connections”.

Tiwari, a popular Bhojpuri singer and actor, was speaking to reporters here after offering prayers at a temple of Goddess Brahmacharini.

“This is no longer a protest. It has now turned into an attack on the country with foreign connections. They (the Congress) want to spread anarchy in the country and incite riots on the streets,” he asserted.

“People of Delhi are inconvenienced due to the agitation. Even vehicles carrying schoolchildren are being targeted. This cannot be called a protest,” Tiwari said.

The MP also hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for “seeking the support” of tech trillionaire Elon Musk.

The BJP had also recently criticised Gandhi over his remarks on Musk’s Starlink project in India.

BJP leader Sambit Patra had alleged that Gandhi today is “welcoming” Musk to India, while his party leaders raised questions on the government’s move to give a licence to the Starlink project in India earlier.

“The people of the country have rejected the protest and are not participating in it,” Tiwari said. PTI CORR SAN RBT

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
