New Delhi: Delhi Police Monday apprehended three minors for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old boy into unnatural sex and shooting the act on a mobile phone. The accused also allegedly circulated the purported video on social media platform Instagram, where it was “seen by the victim’s mother”.

Police officers investigating the case told ThePrint that the alleged offence took place Saturday evening, when the minor was returning home after playing in a park in the Hauz Khas area of south Delhi.

The three accused allegedly took the 14-year-old to an isolated spot and “forced him to have unnatural sex at knifepoint”, the police sources claimed.

Based on a complaint filed by the minor’s mother later, a first information report (FIR) was registered at the national capital’s Hauz Khas police station Monday.

Delhi Police sources told ThePrint that the accused have been booked under Sections 377 (unnatural sex), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all) of the Indian Penal Code, and Section 12 (punishment for sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

Talking about the incident, Ankit Chauhan, deputy commissioner of police (South), Delhi Police, claimed in a statement that “They [the accused] threatened him [the 14-year-old] not to disclose the act to anyone. He didn’t disclose the facts to his family members.”

Chauhan added: “During investigation, all the three CCLs [child in conflict with law] have been apprehended and further investigation is going on.”

‘No history of enmity’

According to a Delhi Police officer privy to the investigation, the minor’s mother called the police around 11.30 pm Sunday, after seeing the purported video.

The 14-year-old’s statement was recorded after he received counselling, following which an FIR was registered and the accused minors apprehended, the officer added.

The officer further claimed that the accused minors and the 14-year-old lived in the same neighbourhood and were school-going children. “No history of enmity between the victim and accused persons has emerged so far but it is part of the investigation,” the officer said.

A second police officer also said that the purported video of the alleged assault “appeared to be genuine” and the mobile phone on which it was allegedly shot will be sent to the forensic science laboratory to confirm the authenticity of the video.
