New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) The Delhi Education Department has directed officials and schools to ensure 100 per cent Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of student beneficiaries to prevent failure or delay in disbursement of financial benefits under various DBT schemes.
The Directorate of Education has been implementing four schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for students studying in government and government-aided schools.
These include subsidy for school uniforms, textbook subsidy for classes 9 to 12, financial assistance for Economically Backward Minorities (EBM), and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Scholarship for meritorious students.
For the 2026-27 academic session, the list of students whose DBT amounts were successfully credited to their validated bank accounts, along with the list of students facing payment errors, has been made available on the EduDel portal, according to the department.
Despite repeated directions to verify and update student records, discrepancies in student details are still resulting in payment failures, it said.
The department has asked Regional Directors of Education (RDEs) to take up Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of all student beneficiaries and undertake regular monitoring and coordination with schools and other stakeholders to achieve 100 per cent coverage.
The RDEs have been asked to direct district and zonal education officials and heads of schools to check the DBT error list on the EduDel portal, correct the required details and ensure that updated bank accounts are properly Aadhaar-seeded, the DoE mentioned.
Schools have further been directed to organise awareness and helpdesk camps for students and parents to explain the importance of Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts and assist them in completing the process.
The department has also sought district-wise weekly progress reports on correction of student account details in the DBT error list and the status of Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.
The move is aimed at ensuring that eligible students receive their financial benefits without payment failures or delays, it added. PTI SHB RHL
