New Delhi, Jul 9 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday launched works to replace overhead power lines with AB cables and flagged off 137 electric waste collection vehicles in her assembly constituency, Shalimar Bagh.
The work to replace the overhead power lines with aerial bunched (AB) cables was launched in several blocks of the constituency to ensure a safer, more reliable and uninterrupted power supply, Delhi CMO said in a post on X.
The insulated AB cables impart enhanced safety, reduce power loss and stop power theft. They also have a longer life span as compared to uninsulated conventional wires used in the electricity supply, it said.
The chief minister said that under the Tata Power-DDL (TPDDL) project overhead electricity lines will be replaced with AB cables and underground power lines.
The project includes the phased underground cabling of 33 kV and 11 kV overhead power lines and their conversion to insulated cables, she said.
In the first phase of the project, work will begin on Club Road, Bhagwan Mahavir Marg, Swami Shraddhanand Saraswati Marg (Kela Godam Road), Shaheed Udham Singh Marg, K. L. Bagga Marg and Maharishi Dayanand Marg (AL Market Road), along with several other key roads, she said.
Gupta said that out of the 137 advanced electric primary waste collection tipper vehicles, 37 vehicles will be deployed in the Keshavpuram Zone, 46 in the Rohini Zone, 24 in the Narela Zone and 30 in the Civil Lines Zone.
Deployment of the tippers will make door-to-door waste collection more effective and improve sanitation services for residents, she added. PTI VIT MDO MDO
