Defence Ministry plans campaign to plant 15 lakh trees across country on Independence Day

The initiative is part of the ‘Ek PedMaa Ke Naam' (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Defense plans to plant 15 lakh trees across the country on the occasion of 78th Independence Day. The trees will be planted by the three armed services and associated organizations.

The initiative is part of the ‘Ek PedMaa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign, under which citizens will be asked to plant a tree in memory of their mothers.

The campaign was launched by the Prime Minister on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, as well as the other dignitaries, have taken part in the campaign and planted trees.
