Srinagar, Apr 27 (PTI) People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone on Monday said declaring Dar Ul Uloom Jamia Siraj Ul Uloom in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian an unlawful entity under the UAPA was “deeply concerning”.
Lone, who is also the MLA from Handwara, said in a post on X, that such a trend was dangerous.
“The move to declare Darul Uloom Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom, Shopian as an unlawful entity is deeply concerning,” he said.
“This has now become a trend. And it is dangerous. Selective targeting has not worked in the past and will not work now. I wonder why all the laws are meant for the most helpless,” he said.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg issued a two-page order based on the dossier presented by the senior superintendent of police, Shopian, pointing towards the alleged illegal activities at Darul Uloom Jamia Sirajul Uloom at Imam Sahib in the Shopian district in south Kashmir.
According to the order issued by Garg on April 24, there were “credible inputs and evidence on record to indicate sustained and covert linkages of the institution with Jamaat-e-Islami”, which the government of India banned in 2019. PTI SSB KSS KSS
