Pune, Sept 20 (PTI) MNS leader Amit Thackeray on Sunday demanded that the Maharashtra government declare a drought immediately and provide necessary relief to farmers.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Lord Ganesh pandals in Pune, Amit said he prayed to Lord Ganesha that his father and MNS president Raj Thackeray become chief minister, claiming he can tackle certain issues effectively.
“I prayed that problems plaguing Maharashtra be resolved,” he said.
A controversy erupted over Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Jadhav allegedly munching on almonds and cashews during a meeting called to discuss the drought-like situation and farm distress in Nanded district.
Responding to a related query, Amit said, “Why is the government delaying the declaration of drought? We are not stopping you from eating. Eat dry fruits if you want to, but go and meet the farmers.
