Jaipur, Oct 27 (PTI) Rajasthan BJP president Madan Rathore on Tuesday accused the Congress of attempting to create an atmosphere of unrest and rebellion in its desperation to return to power, saying parties must seek public support through elections.

Rathore said the opposition had every right to criticise the government and organise peaceful protests, but political discourse should remain within the bounds of decency and democratic discipline.

“The Congress is desperate to regain power and wants to create an atmosphere of anarchy and rebellion to achieve it,” he alleged.

Referring to remarks allegedly made at a programme attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rathore criticised suggestions that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could be removed through a rebellion, saying such statements were contrary to democratic values.

He also targeted the Congress over its allegations of vote theft, accusing the party of misleading people about the deletion of names from electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Rathore further questioned the circumstances surrounding Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s voter registration and citizenship, alleging that her voter identity card had been issued before she acquired Indian citizenship.

He said political parties should earn power by addressing public grievances, serving people and securing an electoral mandate rather than encouraging unrest.

The BJP leader urged politicians to exercise restraint in their language, saying voters were closely watching their conduct. PTI AG SHS
