Varanasi, Oct 7 (PTI) BJP president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday accused the Congress and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of fighting for “infiltrators” and colluding with anti-social elements to create anarchy, while asserting that the people of India would not allow their agenda to succeed.
Nabin’s attack came as Gandhi and opposition MPs held protests for the second day in the heart of the national capital, demanding the ouster of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
“I want to clearly tell the people of the Congress royal family today that the princes of your family reached politics from backdoors, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first prime minister who came before the people and whom the people, through their mandate, took to the Red Fort in Delhi,” the BJP president said.
He was speaking at a programme organised here to honour Seva Yatra bikers, who had arrived in Kashi from Vadnagar, Gujarat, as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to mark PM Modi’s 25 years in public office as a constitutional executive.
“We have seen the way the leaders of the opposition in this country are working with anti-social elements to create anarchy in Delhi,” Nabin said.
“I want to tell them clearly that whatever their objective and intention, the people of India will never allow their objective and intention to be fulfilled,” he said.
Referring to the ongoing debate over SIR, he said the opposition was raising questions about India’s democracy only because the names of infiltrators were deleted through the exercise.
“I want to tell the Leader of the Opposition: the people of India will never allow that their share is taken by infiltrators whose cause you champion. For whom have you shown concern? Whose battle are you fighting?”
These actions of opposition parties are also putting a question mark on their credibility, Nabin said.
“If, through SIR, the names of those infiltrators are deleted and you raise questions about the country’s democracy over that, then somewhere the biggest question is being raised against you (Opposition),” Nabin said.
He asserted that the people would give a strong response to what he described as an “anarchist mentality and thinking”.
The BJP chief alleged that the opposition leaders have only been concerned about those “who have continued to snatch the rights of the people of India”.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, as well Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president and Vadodara Lok Sabha MP Hemang Joshi were among those present at the programme. PTI KIS RT
