Hyderabad, Oct 6 (PTI) Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Tuesday alleged that Congress and the other INDIA bloc parties are conspiring to create anarchy in the country with a blind obsession to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister.

He accused them of spewing poison among the public regarding the credibility of Constitutional bodies such as the Election Commission, the Supreme Court, and even the President’s Secretariat.

“If they win, the Election Commission is great… if they lose, EVMs and institutions are at fault? People are taking note of the hypocritical stance of the Congress,” he told reporters.

He alleged that Congress and its allies are engaged in false propaganda that voters’ names are being removed from electoral rolls, portraying Form-6 and Form-7 during SIR like a “bogeyman”.

He said Form-6 is simply a process used for registering as a voter and that Rahul Gandhi is spreading false propaganda about it.

Votes are not deleted simply by submitting a form, and decisions are taken only after a thorough inquiry. No one can strip away the voting rights of Indian citizens, he said.

Rahul Gandhi’s propaganda claiming internal differences among the Election Commissioners in the Election Commission is an absolute lie, Rao said.

Did not Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi themselves complain in 2018 that there were 70 lakh bogus votes in Telangana, he asked.

Rahul Gandhi should state whether the names of deceased persons should be removed from the electoral rolls or not, he said.

Did Congress form governments in Telangana, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh through vote theft, he asked.

Taking exception to Congress’s attack against EVMs, he said the person who introduced EVMs in the country was Rahul Gandhi’s father, the late Rajiv Gandhi.

Referring to the massive objections raised against Form-7 by Congress and other parties, he said submission of Form-7 is not a crime as it does not lead to immediate deletion of a voter’s name from the electoral rolls.

When it is believed that a voter does not reside in an area or has passed away, any citizen or a political party’s Booth Level Agent (BLA) can submit Form-7 raising an objection, he said.

Merely submitting an application does not result in immediate deletion of votes, he said.

As per the Representation of the People Act and ECI rules, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) must issue notices to both parties and a lawful decision is taken only after providing the list to BLAs of all political parties, conducting a ground-level inquiry, and holding a physical hearing, he said.

Even if a vote is deleted by mistake, the voter retains the option to appeal and the right to re-enrol online, he said.

Alleging that AIMIM has been winning elections in the Old City of Hyderabad all these years solely on the basis of fake and bogus votes, he charged that AIMIM is now “squirming in fear” as the voter list is being purified.

The moment AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi makes a phone call, the Congress government registers illegal cases against BJP workers who submitted forms strictly according to the rules, he alleged.

Observing that BJP has every right as a responsible political party to submit forms to verify votes, Rao said the party would not remain a silent spectator if the government obstructs the legal process and frames cases against its workers. PTI SJR SJR ADB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
