New Delhi, Oct 7 (PTI) The Delhi Customs on Wednesday destroyed around 165 kg of seized narcotics, including cocaine and hydroponic weed, valued at approximately Rs 515 crore as part of its prescribed drug-disposal process, officials said.

The consignment comprised around 140 kg of hydroponic weed valued at approximately Rs 140 crore and 25 kg of cocaine worth around Rs 375 crore, an official statement said.

The destruction was carried out by the High-Level Drug Disposal Committee of the Delhi Customs, “in accordance with prescribed statutory procedures and safeguards”, the statement added.

The disposal comes amid sustained enforcement against drug trafficking at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

Between April and September 2025, the Delhi Customs seized around 611 kg of narcotics in 89 cases at the IGI Airport and arrested 109 alleged traffickers, the department said.

The seized contraband included hydroponic weed, heroin and cocaine, it added.

The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Arvind Saran, Commissioner of Customs (Airport and General).

The committee was chaired by Shankar Prasad Sarma, Additional Commissioner of Customs (Disposal), and included committee members and officers concerned. Joint Commissioner Neetish Verma was also present.

The department said the disposal was carried out in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures and safeguards. PTI MHS RC

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
