New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) Plates of spicy jhalmudi and rasgullas made for a celebratory spread at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday, where Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joined her Cabinet colleagues to mark the BJP’s massive lead in the West Bengal election results.

The informal gathering saw ministers sharing the traditional snacks, with jhalmudi — a popular street food associated with eastern India — taking centre stage in Delhi alongside the dessert.

Calling the result significant, CM Gupta posted on X in Hindi that the victory in West Bengal held special importance and reflected people’s support for the party.

“Under the leadership of the esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every state in the country is turning saffron,” CM Gupta said.

“Celebrating the victory, with JhalMuri and Rasgulla,” CM Gupta further wrote.

“With Assam’s hat-trick victory, the BJP government has also come to power in Bengal with a resounding win—heartiest congratulations,” she said.

Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood said that the BJP has finally arrived in West Bengal as the saffron party is about to form a majority government in the state.

“It is the birthplace of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookherji. The dream of forming the BJP’s government in Bengal has finally culminated. This decisive election victory has sealed the BJP as the only pan-India party,” Sood said, adding that West Bengal was an important bastion for the BJP from various perspectives.

“From the perspective of internal security, the state is really important. It shares a large porous border from where infiltration occurs,” Sood said, further adding that the people of West Bengal have put their faith in PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s leadership.

Officials said that celebratory preparations were in full swing at the BJP office in Delhi and soon ministers would briefly leave to celebrate the election results. PTI VBH VBH MNK MNK
