New Delhi: Barely a week after a group of YouTubers “broke into” the south Delhi residence of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das while he was away in Maharashtra’s Sambhaji Nagar for a party meeting, Das has alleged that the Puducherry Police showed up at his residence and questioned everybody there.
Das, who was among those leading the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) paper leak protests at Jantar Mantar, has alleged on social media platform X that policemen showed up at his family home at around 5 pm on Wednesday. “Two hours ago, the Pondicherry Police showed up at my family’s home and subjected them to all kinds of questioning. Why this harassment, Puducherry Police?” he asked.
Das went on. “Who ordered this and for what purpose? Is this the legal procedure? Why is the BJP government in Pondicherry intimidating my family? This is not the character of the Pondy government. This is being done at the behest of the Union government!”

Puducherry Senior Superintendent of Police R. Kalaivanan, however, said routine checks in VIP areas were occasioned by the approach of Independence Day. He said police checked all houses in the area where Das lives.
If the “intention is to intimidate me into silence, it will not work”, Das said. “This will not cower me down. It only strengthens our resolve to build a better system, one where the police uphold the law instead of acting like goondas!”
He also mentioned that Home Minister Amit Shah was in Puducherry two days ago, where he met its home minister and Lieutenant Governor, “(who was infamously known as the “Eyes and Ears” of Modi in Gujarat years). Was this intimidation tactic planned at their meeting?”
This matter comes close to what unfolded in Delhi on August 5, when two Youtubers “broke into” his residence. Das said they released videos from inside the house, creating a grave security threat for everyone living there.
Tagging the Delhi Police, Das further wrote that if “anti-social elements” attacked him at his residence as a result of this then “these YouTubers and their troll handlers who are coordinating this will be directly responsible!”
Taking cognisance of the matter, the Delhi Police reached out to Das immediately. “We dispatched a team led by the Station House Officer of Greater Kailash police station who took stock of the incident. We have also deployed a team to do round-the-clock monitoring of his residence,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (South) Anant Mittal.
Later, a Delhi Police vehicle with a few personnel was parked outside Das’ residence. The DCP told ThePrint that no official complaint has been received from Das.
