Srinagar, Jul 9 (PTI) A civilian was injured after a major fire broke out at an industrial estate in Srinagar on Thursday, officials said.

The blaze erupted at Zakura Industrial Area, involving two textile units operating from two three-storeyed structures, they said.

On receiving the distress call, Fire & Emergency Services personnel launched a firefighting operation.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading to adjoining industrial units and nearby structures despite its intensity, officials said.

The operation was carried out efficiently, and the fire was brought under control, they said.

A civilian who sustained injuries in the incident was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. No loss of life has been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The extent of the property damage will be assessed after completion of the firefighting operation and a subsequent inspection, officials said. PTI SSB MDO MDO
