Idukki (Kerala), Apr 27 (PTI) Authorities on Monday issued a cautionary advisory for devotees planning to attend the famed Chitra Pournami festival at the Mangaladevi temple here on May 1, following a forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of the hill district.
District Collector Dinesan Cheruvat said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the likelihood of heavy rain and lightning on April 30 and May 1 across various parts of Idukki.
As rainfall and thunderstorms are more likely during the afternoon hours, devotees have been advised to complete their darshan at the temple before noon and return at the earliest, he said in a statement.
Located inside forests in Idukki district on the Tamil Nadu–Kerala border, the Mangaladevi Temple is dedicated to the goddess Mangaladevi, who is also known as Kannaki.
