Kolkata, Aug 24 (PTI) A Class-1 student was allegedly bitten by a snake inside his school in Bhawanipore area of the city on Monday morning, officials said.
The incident took place at Mitra Institution around 8.30 am during the tiffin break, they said.
The child has been identified as Drupto Pal, a resident of Tollygunge in south Kolkata.
The school authorities informed his family and took him to the nearby state-run SSKM hospital.
“The boy is currently under treatment and his condition is stable,” a senior hospital official said.
“He has been kept under observation. Tests were conducted and further treatment will depend on his clinical condition and the reports,” he said.
The school authorities have also informed the Forest Department and sought assistance to inspect the premises.
