New Delhi, Oct 23 (PTI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested two officials of the Enforcement Directorate office in Lucknow for allegedly taking a Rs 5 lakh bribe, officials said.
The arrested officials were Enforcement Officer Deepak Kumar and Head Constable Manoj Dwivedi.
Earlier, the CBI had registered an FIR against Dwivedi and other unidentified Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, based on a complaint.
“It was alleged that the accused head constable demanded a bribe from the complainant’s father to help him in the ED case, in which he received two summons in August and September 2026,” a CBI spokesperson said in a statement.
After registering the FIR, the CBI laid a trap and caught the head constable red-handed while accepting Rs 5 lakh on behalf of Enforcement Officer Deepak Kumar.
“Both the accused have been apprehended,” the spokesperson said. PTI ABS RUK
